Last year I won a Varuna Fellowship, which enabled me to spend two wonderful weeks at a house in the Blue Mountains (NSW, Australia) writing, thinking and talking with the four other writers who were staying there.  We worked in silence all day, went for walks in and around world heritage listed Katoomba and shared fantastic meals (cooked to perfection by the glorious Sheila) each evening.  2013-06-30 15.28.47

The chance to do nothing but write or think about writing or talk about writing was absolutely precious.

Entries for this year’s round of fellowships, and other opportunities, are now open.
