On the radio

Because I love early mornings so very much, the kind people at ABC radio have invited me to speak on their Overnights program again.

On the morning of Tuesday 3 September 2019.

At 4:20 am.

Yes, that IS when I’m at my best and brightest, thanks for asking.

In case you missed it (because apparently the very excellent blogger and biographer Nathan Hobby is the only person in the world who actually heard it live), my last interview with Overnights was terrific, and you can listen to it here.

This time around I’m speaking about Australian women farmers more generally, and about how they are included (or not) in the Australian historical narrative. About a year ago I wrote a piece about this issue for Inside Story magazine, which you can read online here.

And don’t think I won’t know if you don’t listen in live – they take talk back callers, you know….

So they really DO record the interview in the middle of the night?! I always assumed that it was ‘something they had prepared earlier’ in best cooking-show tradition!

Sadly, no. It’s definitely live. Although they are always most grateful that I’m willing to get up for it!! And people do actually call and text in, again live. Nice to know *someone’s* listening at that hour.

Leave a comment, I'd love to hear from you...
