I’ve been promoted!

Apparently I’m now a member of the B-list which, according the blurb at the State Library of NSW is “an exciting, new style of book club hosted by the award-winning author and avid reader, Bri Lee. Each month Bri will be in conversation with a variety of authors previously shortlisted for one of the Library’s prestigious literary awards. After the talk, you will be invited into the our historic Friends Room to continue the conversation with your fellow readers.”

Bri Lee is the prize-winning author of Eggshell Skull, which I can recommend as a compelling and fascinating insight into how the Queensland justice system deals with cases of sexual assualt. Her latest book, Beauty, has just been released.

This Thursday evening (21 November 2019) Bri is going to be speaking with me and Professor Larissa Behrendt. Truly, I’m not worthy. But I’m pretty excited about meeting Professor Behrendt. To say she is eminent is to seriously understate her CV (see wikipedia for details).

Ages ago, I wrote about her excellent book Finding Eliza: Power and Colonial Storytelling.

It’s sure to be an interesting conversation. Do come along if you can, and be sure to say hi.
