‘Conversations’ on ABC Radio

Truly, one of the best podcasts in the world has to be ABC Radio's 'Conversations'. Such a simple concept - an hour long chat with one person, about their life, or an aspect of it. I must have listened to hundreds of episodes and each one is surprising in different ways. Often the most interesting episodes are with people I've never heard of, simply because their stories are so fascinating. Don't take my word for it though - the podcast has been downloaded over a million times, by listeners all [...]

Talking about crime on the ABC

Had a little chat on ABC radio the other day, about books. No, you didn't hear it because I was on - live to air - from 4:30 to 5:00am. The loveliest people are listening then, and they ring in, to chat. I'd love to get a regular guest gig (even if it IS at 4:30 am!) so feel free to let the ABC know how much you love love love to hear my dulcet tones... oh, and my insightful, bookish commentary. Listen to me rabbiting on here. Tell the [...]

On the radio

Because I love early mornings so very much, the kind people at ABC radio have invited me to speak on their Overnights program again. On the morning of Tuesday 3 September 2019. At 4:20 am. Yes, that IS when I'm at my best and brightest, thanks for asking. In case you missed it (because apparently the very excellent blogger and biographer Nathan Hobby is the only person in the world who actually heard it live), my last interview with Overnights was terrific, and you can listen to it here. This [...]

What does being a new author feel like?

So far? Joyous. My friends and family are all super happy for me and it's too soon for any dubious reviews. Quite the opposite, including this very nice one in The West Australian. People have even complimented me on my neat handwriting. In the past week alone I've had a launch party, two library talks and five radio interviews (including one with Wendy Harmer - yes WENDY HARMER!!!!!!) And every occasion was full of people who wished me well, and simply wanted to know more about Elizabeth Macarthur. The launch [...]

And on Friday it's one more interview, with ABC Bendigo (Central Victoria). Listen in after 10:30. How to launch a book

Full confession: launching a book really is fun. And everyone is so nice! Over in Facebook land I've never had so many likes in my life. I went into Readings Carlton to sign some copies, and they've subsequently put a copy of Elizabeth Macarthur into the window. Truly, I can now die happy. I've had two radio interviews so far, and they both went well. Only one is available online, though: ABC Melbourne (774) Breakfast Show. Fast forward to 1:14:20 if you want to hear me rabbiting on for about 6 minutes [...]
